It's always puzzled me how Americans find the 2 games, Baseball and Gridiron so entertaining and have had, until recently very little interest in "soccer" as they call it and absolutely none at all in cricket, whereas here in the UK it's the opposite way round. Odd.

Football is a game of strategy ..
I enjoy calling the plays .. even more so
when I'm right and Geoff isn't[Big Grin]
I used to get sent back into the
kitchen with all the other women at the
Superbowl parties!!

Baseball is if you'll pardon the pun based
on cricket .. if you enjoy cricket and don't
mind sceaming "YES" .. instead of politely
murmuring "Well held sir .. well held" ..
then it's an enjoyable game .. I like 'em both,
cricket and baseball.

Never was a soccer fan ...
tho' my 10 year old grandson is a keen
and very good little player .. Italian
and English genes[Smile]
...so maybe I had best start learning the rules[Wink]

Oh 'ecky Noel,[Smile]
As I'm on an English site AND you are a VIP
I guess I had best watch my Ps and Qs. and
not try to top that.
OK for Football .. read American Football
and for Soccer .. read Football.

I curtseyed twice ...is that enough?

Now you may continue to address me as:-

Although I'm a soccer nut and was part of the surge that brought soccer to the American's attention, I must admit that I think American Football, and the overall game, is more interesting than soccer. Football is more of a chess game than soccer, each 'down' having been pre-thought. I think it's a case of not understanding the strategy and the intricasy of Football that makes it hard to follow....certainly most of the soccer community that I know now watch American Football with enthusiasm, having gained a knowledge of the game by living here.
As for cricket !! I played cricket in the Preston & District League, but looking back I always hoped that the other team would bat first, you see I was one of the opening batters on our team, so when I went into bat, and as soon as I was "Out", I could go home [Wink][Wink]
Cricket is the only game where you can spend a day or two watching, and never see the beginning, or the end...now what kind of a game is that [?][?] Two days at a game and you've still missed a day or two. [Sad][Sad]
It's whatever turns you on. Only an idiot would play golf for instance, but hey, I have to leave, I have a tee time in half an hour.[8D][8D][}Smile][}Smile]
