I don't know lots about everything Julie, I just have opinions and state them. Lots of people look at the forum and don't join in. I'm glad you do and yes Linda is a forum friend. We have had forum meets from time to time and got to know each other a bit better, even Karen coming over from Canada I have met, lovely lady she is too ( should get me in her good books)
William from Barnsley, Lynne, Spitfire ( Jim) and Shuffy I used to live close to as a child.
Now that wedding won't run itself. Must go.

Hi everyone,
think there has been a misunderstanding between you all somewhere along the line. Well Julie, you got a nice pat on the back there from Noel. Noel's right though, usually only a handful of people actually writing in the forums, so everyone's thankful for any contributions.

Have a nice weekend all you Leylanders, wherever you all are.

Its as Frameil says, some peole just look and never join in and im sorry if i upset anyone, although after all this banter, Im still no closer to finding any of my old mates from my pool days. Ive met new people and had a chat but no one has been in contact or past on messages about the 1970,s visitors to The Gables????
Wish you all well and a great weekend.

It's quite alright, Julie, no offence was taken and I was gently teasing you back. Noel and I have been using this forum for a long time - you'll notice there's quite a bit of banter between the regulars. I hope you will soon begin to consider yourself a regular and maybe come along to a forum meet - we've had some jolly evenings over the years, usually when one of the overseas members is paying a visit to Leyland.

Julie, you haven't upset anyone, don't fret. We're very pleased to see someone joining in the forum! You may need to stick around a bit longer to find someone who used to frequent the Gables in the 70's. The number of regular posters is not huge, but there are others who just bob in from time to time and may have known you, and then there are new people signing up all the time, who have a read and then don't return. Maybe a new person will show up who did know you and will reply to your post.

But even if you don't find any old mates, you can make new ones on here. I didn't know anyone on this forum other than the forum owner, Martin, when I joined. Now I am pleased to call many of those posting here my friends and I hope you will too. [Smile]

Hi Julie, All this talk about The Gables being a drinking place, washes over me I`m afraid. I left Leyland in 1950 to live in Chorley - The Gables was then the residence of Dr. Johnson, who used to threaten us with "the police" if we didn`t stop sitting on his wall on Sunday nights.

To be threatened with Sgts. Pollitt and Turner in those days in 1939/45 was an incentive to find other places to meet, but we were only lads of the village then.

Keep posting.

I cant believ it use to be a doctor residence, I moved to Leyand a s a small child in early 1960,s but as I said I would go there as a teenager/young lady, I dont know why we started to go there, its not really my local but I think because my friends all lived closer to center it was easy to meet up there.
Great to hear from you, hope you also join in.

Yes you are right, banter is healthy, and I do intend to carry on with chatting to you all. I know know if I will be back in Leyland, I havent visited there in 7 years and at present Im nursing a broken leg so I dont think I,ll be planning any trips this year.
It sounds great that you all get together but is it not like the voice on the phone, when you meet the voice its a little disappointing????I will keep it in mind if we do visit to let everyone know.
