Hello guys, understand now why you have not answered Chris,in London what about Malta and your cafe? Peter does sound like you are going to be run off your feet the next year, I guess your wife will just have to be patient! Great idea, holiday before you start, I am planning with my 2 sons a long weekend to my family in Uk, hope maybe in feb 2008 but my son starts a 6 months work placement for college in jan2008 so we have to wait see if he can have the time off?
Im getting more mobiel now, my broken bones seem to be healing quicker this last few months so I am ready for a holiday, it will be the first ever with my sons alone, so that will be great, they havent been in Leyland for more than 15 years so theres a lot to see and do, fish and chips and a good curry house is on the list, both are into computers and both play electric guitar so we will be looking for some good shops(any tips)I think its going to be an eye opener for us all, I have not been home for 8 years, I bet I cant even find the streets any more, is the Gables still in the same place?

Hi Julie & Pete

Julie - rimmers for guitars in Leyland and PC world in Preston should see you right for computers. The Gables was still there yesterday although given the current situation in Leyland pubs quite a few will soon be facing extinction. The best time to go out in town seems to be Sunday afternoon - was in the Wagon & Horses yesterday and it was bouncing with a live band - somehow ended up in the Seven Stars early evening which was equally alive - flippin bizzare!!!

Pete I guess we wont be hearing from you for a while with Bob being over - 3 Harris's in one continent at the same time - the share price of Fosters must have rocketed!!! - If you are over early next year I can be found in the Raddison Grafton on Tottenham Court Road Monday till Thursday - Wednesday is usually a good night around town - Bar Italia and a few other good spots around soho - was taken home in a rickshaw at 4 in the morning last week !! - would you have any contact details for Jim - might be worth seeing how he doing and how much his accent as changed - off back to Malta for a very long weekend on Wednesday - ciao for now

Hi Chris, Thanks for the info will check them out, thats if we do finally get over next spring? What do you mean about the pubs? would that have anything to do with the "no" smoking, I guess people find it easier and cheaper to stay home. You do seem to get back to leyland more often than most so I guess you are more up to date on things there, i cant wait to see how much it has changed since was there last?It sounds like you are living it up in London, but I bet you miss the warmth in Malta?
Peter it must be great to have all your family close, and in such and amazing country as well, some people have all the luck!

G'day Chris

Bob left today for Sydney so I'm back at work for a while. We had a good time and di a lot of hiking to places like seal colonies etc. The weather held up and we were very lucky. We went to the South Island to Picton and then by water taxis through Fjordland. Then we took the ferry back to the North Island and drove up to Mt Taranaki (huge volcano covered in snow).

So we had a great time and a few good dinners and beers along the way.

The Kiwis are crashing and burning at every sport at the moment, GB 3-0 in the series, South Africa giving them a pasting. It's a ggod job the men over here have the Silver Ferns to fall back on (netball).

See you soon.

Know what you mean peter, the rugby has been well, a mess, the All Blacks should feel totally ashamed of themselves, Im just glad now we didnt go to see them play but we are saving up so we can go over to your part of the world to see the nations in a few years time, maybe you can give us a few tips as to were to get the best deals. I was thinking of maybe hiring a tour camper bus, we saw on the BBCtravel program last year you can hire a sunshine yellow VW bus for just a few dollars and travel for weeks, we can the pull into the towns were the rugby is playing and the see more of the island, what do you think, a good idea? Do you know already were all the gaes will be played?
Hows life on the island peter, my step son is back there farming untill next june but after 3 years of cows, hes had enough and wants to travel to Japan.
Your travels with you Bob sound great, you have the best of all worlds there. we are suffering with cold, wet and windy weather,we are expecting snow later in the week.
Take care.

Hey Julie

Shame about the weather - as soon as my brother stepped on the plane the NZ weather returned to normal. It's freezing and blowing a gale. If you come over here I hope you are as lucky with the weather as my brother was because on a good day you wouldn't be anywhere else. But on a bad day - Singapore looks really attractive.

Poor Kiwis

Done in the final by the Aussies. That caps off a disastrous year in sport. I keep telling them that we British are used to keeping a stiff upper lift when our teams lose - we've had enough practice.quote:

Netball has been really strong in Kiwiland for a long time. Almost on a par with rugby.
I remember arriving in Blenheim in the fifties and seeing a paddock -field to most here- filled with netball courts and eighty plus games going on at the same time.
Most of my sporting days had been taken up with hockey in the winter and tennis in the summer with the usual rounders as a diversion so it was quite an eye -opener to see so much netball.
Saturdays used to be taken up with watching sons play rugby for their school teams and daughters play netball. That was from a very young age.
Each school had an annual weigh -in at the start of the year to decide which level a boy played for.
This is not on topic my sincere apologies but I do remember it was a sacred thing to take part in the 'turnouts 'at Balshaws when every student was expected to stay behind at night for one or two days a week and play sport usually on a house basis.
It was actually great fun as we could have tea in the dining room beforehand which usually was bread and jam and a glass of milk. I think we were quite fit in those days despite the austerity ot the post war years.
