We can't get Virgin broadband in the US (yet, Richard?) but my wife and I both have Virgin cell phones.
I worked the Virgin Airlines account at Boeing for a while - those folks are a real experience. I don't recall ever meeting people who were underpaid and worked to a frazzle who were so enthuiastic about the company and its CEO. As an example, Virgn flight attendants get about 50% of a typical flight attendant's paycheck and yet they're queueing in the street for the chance to work there.
Go figure!

Remember Virgin media UK is a buy out Telewest and they either supply via cable modem or ADSL (via BT).
Sky also do ADSL via BT. Sky is good once setup, but slow. Virgin is good and fast.
Pays your money, etc.

Our Virgin Mobile cell phone service is actually a re-marketing of Sprint for people who don't use their cell phones very frequently.
My wife and I view our mobiles as an emergency means of getting in touch with each other and very rarely for any other use. We have to top up every six months to keep the account active.
The minutes never expire, and my accoount has about 1400 minutes and my wife's has even more.
We haven't activated text messaging, since we can see no viable use for it.
Every now and then, when the number of available minutes is getting ridiculous, we call friends who have a reputation for verbosity when on the phone and burn off the excess minutes.
Virgin Mobile is a good option if you don't use your cell phone very much.
BTW, I can't imagine why anyone would put up with all the crap that AOL subjects its members to. Paul Allen has a lot to answer for!

So, occasionally the yanks can outshine us!
I could do with something similar for my mother.

For cell phone service, you might want to check the British Virgin Mobile deals. I'm sure they have the same kind of deal we get. Virgin USA is the only one I've seen in the States that's so well suited to our kind of use.

Frank, Our Mobile usage is much the same as your`s. We settled on Tesco pay-as-you-go. I still have over half of the £10 top-up I purchased 3 months ago.
It`s also handy to be able to pay at the till at the same time as the groceries.
