Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that just before Christmas as well.
The dole queue tomorrow, though I'm entitled to absolutely nothing, I should be a militant muslim cleric who hates Britain, maybe that'll get me something.[Sad!]

Noel, I am so sorry to hear the axe you've been suspecting for some time has finally fallen. I do hope you and all those made redundant with you find something else soon.

Jim, please reconsider your decision - we will miss you on here if you go.

As David (the dedicated) is so much a "dyed in the wool" British Subject , can I ask a very simple question of him "Having lived so long in the United States, does he adopt the same belligerent attitude towards his fellow Americans, as he shows on the Forum"??

Perhaps it is safer to be critical from a distance than to enter into a face to face encounter with his near neighbours? Putting it rather more bluntly "Good fault finders shouild be good fault menders", so why not try to be less of a "stirrer" and more of a person of whom we can say "He could always find faults, and was prepared to do something to correct them." Sadly, in my opinion, we are not at that point yet.

William; I am a prolific letter writer to our local newspaper on the ills of the area I live in. So NO, I'm not afraid nor do I stand down from making myself heard here in the Pomona valley. I am often complimented by my fellow workers on bringing to the fore some of the injustices that abound in this area. Doris just the other day came home from a round of golf and said one of her playing partners had told her to "Tell Dave to keep up the good work" after one of my letters appeared in the local Daily Bulletin.
I consider myself an activist for the good, and I'm prepared to.. state my case...which isn't always acceptable to others, but then some respond with their own ideas, while others simply walk away complaining.

Good for you David. To stand up and be counted is admirable in the right context, but we all have to have regard for the feelings of others. To be one of the silent majority and accept all the ills of modern life is too often the easy way out for many, I am not one of them.

When I entered the sphere of Management, I was told to believe in what I considered to be right, but to be sure that I took note of opposite points of view, assess which in my opinion I considered to be the route to follow, and never be diverted from it.

I have regarded this as my aim in all things, and have so far, gone along life`s highway treating everyone with the respect they demand, to my credit I hope.

We should always try to see the other side of any problem raised, and never push an unwanted opinion, even if we believe it to be right.
This way, I think harmony can be maintained. Only my opinion of course.

The Seasons Greetings to you and yours - keep posting.

Stop big-rig parking before child dies

More and more I am seeing 18-wheeler trucks parked along North Towne Avenue in Pomona.

These huge trucks are parking alongside Emerson Middle School where children are coming and going all day long. How long will it be before some child is maimed or killed when walking out from behind these trucks into the busy Towne Avenue.

I'm appealing to the Pomona City Council to put an end to this new parking area before a tragedy happens.

Towne Avenue was not built for a convenient big-rig parking area. It is one of the Pomona Valley's main thoroughfares and should be devoid of big-rig parking.

If you had to pay what we pay for petrol (gas) the 'big rig' problem would be solved overnight[Wink]
