What caught your eye today.
Bentley and Evans were undoubtedly unfortunate, nobody would argue with that. Had the bleeding hearts not won the day and had capital punishment abolished, those deaths would have saved countless others, since then. As it is - they died for nothing.
Every single convicted drug trafficker should pay the ultimate penalty. With NO exceptions.

`Typical Middle England knee jerk reaction`. Do you realize just how hollow and vacuous that comment is?

I'm with you, Jim. Drug traffickers are the lowest of the low, with suicide bombers a very close second. Fortunately, suicide bombers eliminate the need for the death penalty in their cases.

I guess drug traffickers who ignore the fact that the country they're smuggling to has the death penalty if they're caught are dumber than most.

No anger towards the Chinese from me on this one.

Its like a kangaroo court on here honestly just listen to yourselves !! Whatever I say is met with disdain 9 times 10 anyhow but come on !! You cant go around executing willy nilly without so much of an investigation. And my comment was not vacuous or hollow Jim. That is a perception you and the usual suspects have of me ! I just hope someone with some balls steps up to the plate and backs me up on this because to be honest it is getting a little trite now !!

All drug traffickers are innocent in your eyes Phil. What else needs to be said?

Phil, Why is it always `You`?` My views on capital punishment have NEVER changed. Check these archives and you will see that I was saying exactly the same thing, long before you appeared on here.
My long held views on the subject hsve no connection to you whatsoever and I`m a little surprised that you think they have.

I'm not a supporter of capital punishment but respect the right of other countries to withold their own laws.
Which is why I avoid places like China, North Korea, Burma.....

I suggest you either remove that comment or apologise Noel ! How dare you make such an absurd remark which might I add is tantamount to defamation of character ! I dont know how you have based your ridiculous conclusion but you couldn't be farther away from the truth !

I didn't quite mean it like that Phil, so apologies if I wrote in haste without thinking how you would interpret it.
What I did mean to come across was that there is always an excuse whenever a so called Brit is arrested for drug trafficking usually one of mental illness or they weren't aware that there was an extra 5 kg of heroin with a street value of zillions of pounds, in their hand luggage and "it'll make me rich beyond my wildest dreams"..and you believe they are innocent. Is there ever a case where you may doubt what's written in your newspaper?

We walked along Lord Street in Southport today. Near the southern end a large area was cordoned off by police crime scene tape, with a policewoman either side sipping coffee on a very cold day, a large pool of blood in the middle of the cordoned area.
I checked the news when I got back just now as it seemed certain someone had been killed.

Two men arrested in Southport murder probe

Two men have been arrested over the murder of a 47-year-old man who died after being attacked in the street in Merseyside.

Police were called to Lord Street in Southport town centre in the early hours of Wednesday.

The man was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival, Merseyside Police said.

Two men from Formby, aged 24 and 25, have been arrested and are due to be interviewed by officers.
